Lavrion Itinerary 1

Itinerary

Day 1 – Lavrion (Mainland)

Lavrion is located at the base of the Attica Peninsula, 20 minutes SE of Athens air terminal. Lavrion is a great starting point to explore the northern Cyclades Islands including Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and Kythnos. Lavrion in itself has some points of attraction. The largest and oldest amphitheatre in Greece is in Lavrion, as well as the remnants of ancient silver mines that date back to prehistoric times.

Day 2 - Merichas (Kythnos Island)

Merichas is a small coastal village that is located on the western side of Kythnos island. It is a delightfully traditional village that has remained unchanged through the years. Merichas has a small permanent population but can get crowded in the peak season. You can find fresh fish in tavernas that line the waterfront and cen enjoy dining at the edge of the water.

Day 3 - Ermoupoli (Syros Island)

Ermoupolis is the capital of Syros island and also the entire Cyclades artchipelago. The town was established in 1821 by individuals from different parts of Greece who were escaping from the Turkish oppression. The architecture of Ermoupolis is decidedly Neoclassical and the marble paved streets are lined with old mansions, grand churches, statues and monuments. The town has been dubbed “Little Milan” because of these structures.

Day 4 - (Mykonos Island)

Mykonos is presumably one of the most well known places in Greece, next to Athens and Corfu. Celebrated around the world for its cosmopolitan environment, energizing nightlife and unique architecture, it is an absolute necessity to visit the island while cruising here. The island is situated in the core of the Cyclades and guarantees vistors a plethora of activities. We'd suggest exploring Little Venice or maybe one of the eminent beaches.

Day 5 - Gavrio (Andros Island)

Lying on the west coast of Andros island Gavrio is the only active port between Andros and Rafina. The town began life as a little fishing village and only in the last 20 years it has become a tourist attraction. The northcoast of the island features many sandy beaches where you can relax if you decide to spend a day on land.

Day 6 - Vourkari (Kea Island)

Vourkari is situated to the north of Kea island. The town is sheltered from the prevailing breezes and is a haven for small fishing vessels. In recent years, the island has been receiving more traffic due to tourists seeking a tranquil stopover. Kea island boasts some phenomenal seafood restaurants that serve fresh fish, lobster and a variety of Greek favorites. We recommend the small bay 100m from the port if you are looking for a peaceful anchorage.

Day 7 - Lavrio - Disembark

Lavrion is just a 50 minute drive from Athens. On the off chance that you haven't just gone to the city we'd emphatically suggest you go. There are some world class attractions including the Parthenon and the Acropolis, which you can visit on your last day.
